Meet Dr. Wesslen

Changing Lives, One Person at a Time

As an orthodontist, I have the opportunity to improve the physical and emotional health of the people in my care.

Each person is different, each malocclusion is different, and each situation requires a different approach for the best treatment and strongest results. Yet there is a common, essential element: With each person, I have the opportunity to enhance their life by helping them achieve a beautifully healthy smile. I can’t imagine a more rewarding profession.

I enjoy watching people develop self-confidence and seeing how that confidence enhances everything they do. Since treatment usually takes several years, and patients come in about once a month, I am able to see these changes in real time and it never gets old!

Those regular visits also provide time to get to know patients as people. I enjoy being part of my patients’ lives, and hearing about their activities, social events, and successes at school or work. I thrive on the friendships we build and love helping people I care about transform their lives!

Wesslen Orthodontics

My team members are the bedrock of our practice. They are committed to providing exceptional clinical care and making sure every patient and the family know they are part of our family.

My team is experienced and professional. They’re also warm and supportive, and really care about those we serve. Most have been with the practice for many years and they’re an integral part of our community.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – Loma Linda University School of Dentistry
  • Master of Science in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics – Loma Linda University

Before attending dental school and completing my specialty certification, I completed a BS and an MS in computer science and worked for several years in software development. I still love technology, but I needed a profession that gave me time to develop real relationships with people.

I’m a lifelong learner and love staying at the forefront of developments in techniques, materials, and technologies. Each year I complete many hours of continuing orthodontic education, attend local, regional, and national seminars, and participate in lectures and seminars.

Beyond the Practice

Originally from Eugene, Oregon, I have made Visalia my home with my family since 2011. My wife Christen is a registered dental hygienist who grew up here, and we’re lucky to live near her parents. Christen and I have two young children: daughter Hazel and son Henry.

When I’m not in the office, I’m usually with my family. We enjoy camping and love being part of a vibrant church community. I also like riding bikes (both mountain and road), golfing, and volunteering with our local church school, where I serve on the school board.

I am passionate about living a wholesome Christian life, providing for my family, and helping in my community.
